What car mods, can you not stand the sight/noise of. The kind that make you shudder, and think. "Why would you do that?"

For me, it is the fart can, it seems that every night at 4am, somebody does a flyby of my house, fart can at full blast.

Admittedly, I have to say the fartcan is high on my list, especially someone redlining with one in the middle of the night.

I hate most of those cheap cosmetic mods, like the stick-on scoops, and cheap HID's.

Look at this RX-7, RUINED by that scoop.

Fart can exhausts are high on my list. So are terrible lowering jobs, way oversized wheels, and wings on FWD street cars. I don't know which is actually on top... depends what I see at that moment.

I used to agree with you.

but I spent days moving about my boost gauge on the MR2, but until I get a 38mm one to replace the factory gauge the only place I can put one that is visible without having to turn my head is the a-pillar.

5 is way too excessive though.

You should check magnaflow or flowmaster, their exhausts generally sound muscle-ish, even on imports. Or go custom with muscle car mufflers and fabbed piping

For me it's fart cans or any obnoxious sounding exhaust. A deep burble is okay but when you blast my eardrums out just keeping up with traffic you're doing it wrong. Badly done appearance stuff makes me snicker but it's the sound that really bothers me.

This is an N1 style. It's mostly Subaru and Nissan communities (as far as I know) that refer to "fart cans" as N1.

Oh come on, it's not that bad! Ok so I de-badged it for two reasons. 1) Someone de-badged it before i bought it, but slapped an STI badge on it instead. Unfortunately they uh didn't make STI wagons those years so that had to go. 2) I like it to look clean. I probably would've left the Subaru badge but taken off the Impreza and WRX. All that was already removed anyways so I had no choice. I'm really picky about certain things and the text of badges is one of them.

Hmm. I can't find it, but Audis are generally pretty clean to begin with. I can't imagine removing badges would make much difference. But to each his own. I could see how removing hybrid, v-tec, pzev, flex fuel, and other similar intent badges would make it cleaner.

Anything that clearly took time and or money and or effort on a car that needs repair.

I don't really care what people do to their car. Yeah, stancing is silly, fartcans are annoying, massive subwoofers are dumb. Do any of those to a piece of shit without fixing the broken stuff? Makes me angry

You know what I'm talking about to: the guy with a 90's civic that's been lowered beyond reason, with excessively large aftermarket wheels, a fart can exhaust, all while still rocking a poorly spray painted hood with an ill fitting, unpainted bodykit and tint that is 5 years overdue for a replacement.

Really great point you made there.
Aftermarket items, such as exhaust, rims, performance chips aren't required for the safe operation of a car. Things like tires, repairs, and pretty much anything to get the car past state inspection should have first priority. Anything aftermarket or just plain pricey should be done after the car can pass inspection.

You can't polish a turd by putting a bow on it. I might excuse exhaust, that's a different sense that doesn't depend on the appearance of the car. But lowering it? New wheels? Spoilers? Bodykits? They are all aesthetic, so what's the point of trying to improve the aesthetics before you fix the broken aesthetics?!

I don't have subs. I see no need for subs. The base stereo can actually be quite loud (for me anyways).

Plus I move a lot of photo equipment on a regular basis so I need the space.

You are right, the Cavalier will take a licking and keep on ticking.

Last time it was the motor mounts and the fuel pressure regulator. He bought new tires/brakes a few months ago. Hes not as negligent as your average joe who doesnt care for cars but compared to your average jalop he is. He has no clue about cars but he knows to listen to our dad and I lol.

I'm neither for nor against the WRX spoiler, but i do consider that one of the better OEM ones. IMHO it really only gets worse from there. Well, I suppose there are exceptions (See: 911 Sport Classic)

My good friend has an 06 GTO a car that came with the most typical OEM spoiler type usually seen on cars. Taking it off makes that car look so so so much better in person, which is weird because the spoiler is pretty unassuming.

+1 on the fart can. usually, I think it must be a motorcycle, only to have my hopes dashed by a Honda that thinks reducing the back pressure on the valves of a naturally aspirated engine helps make mad horsepower. one time years ago, I remember trolling someone with such an exhaust by telling him that I noticed he has an exhaust leak and that I know of a shop that could fix it for him. he wasn't amused, but I was. simple pleasures in life.
